I changed my network settings to Workgroup from DNS, now
the windows logon prompt won't recongnize my user
information.

Any suggestions on how to back-out or work around the
problem so I can logon again?

Greetings --

By changing the computer from the domain to a workgroup, you have
destroyed the trust between the domain and the machine. In doing so,
you have also rendered any domain login credentials as invalid. You
need to be physically connected to the domain network, you need to
have administrative privileges to the workstation, and you need to
have administrative privileges on the domain. Then you can add the
machine back on to the domain, after having first deleted the
computer's old domain account (unless you've also renamed the
computer).

Thanks for the info Bruce.

Unfortunately, it's inconvenient for me to be physically
connected to the domain network; I'm in a remote office
and I would have to send my laptop cross-border via
courier to head office (risky business these days).

I may be able to acquire the administrator logon info
from my IT department. Can I logon as administrator,
establish a VPN connection to the office network like I
normally would and then add the computer to the domain?

ps. I do not recall renaming the computer.
