Hello,

Someone taught me how to use the ftn+F8 function to make projector
presentations easier (I was having trouble getting my desktop to pop up).

But now, my desktop looks funny. I have hit the ftn+F8 function again but
nothing changes back. Any advice?

It rather depends on what you mean by "funny". If squashed, is there another
Fn+? combination that toggles widescreen on and off perhaps? (Its symbol on
the keyboard being a square inside a rectangle of the same height.) Other
than that as Shenan says, change screen resolution (Control Panel > Display
"Settings" tab).

And don't forget, your Fn+F8 may not respond instantly - don't give up and
assume it's done nothing without waiting a few seconds first.

Did you have to change resolutions on your primary monitor to allow it
to
work with a projector/etc?

Change resolutions to your native monitor resolution (should be in your

paperwork, or you can tell us make/model and/or Google it.)

Thanks, I have already tried that and changing the resolution seemed to
"stretch" the screen even worse.

So is that your description of the problem? Things look stretched?
(Fatter?)

If so - resolution *is* your problem. You need to set it to a widescreen
resolution (the native resolution would be a widescreen resolution if your
problem is the icons look stubby/fat.)

- What is the make/model of the laptop?
- What resoution are you currently at?

Could be 1440x900 or 1280x800 is the native resolution - for most newer
laptops with widescreens (of not-enourmous size) - that is likely true.

Seriously - what is the make/model of the laptop?
What resolution are you currently at?

That information can help those here help you more specifically. I'd bet a
Dell... Something...

Yes, a Dell Latitude D630. The resolution is currently at 96 and when i
changed it to 120, it made it worse.

That's not the resolution - that's the DPI.

You need to change the Screen Resolution.

How to do that:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/personalize/resolution.mspx

Depending on what screen you got with the D630 - likely one of the two
resolutions I already gave you:
1440x900 or 1280x800
.... is the native resolution.

What is its current setting (review the link I gave you to give that
information.)
