This is a reverselookup problem, as nslookup does reverse lookup at startup.
See that you created reverselookup zone using wizard and entered right
subnet information. If your network subnet is in form of 10.0.1.x, then your
reverselookup zone should show 10.0.1.x Subnet in name or
1.0.10.in-addr.arpa . See the properties of your reverse lookup zone and
check, that dynamic updates are enabled. Next check, that PTR records exist
in your reverselookup zone. Before you test everything run ipconfig
/flushdns to clear dns resolver cache.

Hello,
When I run nslookup using [IP address] I get the error "unknown can't find
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: Non-existent domain"
When I run nslookup using the [server name] I get the same string above,
plus the following four lines:
server: unknown
address: [correct IP address]
Name: [correct name of server]
address: [correct IP address]

Larry

Check with nslookup if you can resolve computer name. Reverse lookup zone
could ba a problem. What do you think, that is wrong with your reverselookup
zone ? Are your servers/clients registering into it ?

Using the "Active Directory Users and Computers" aplet, I click on
'computers', select a computer, then right click on 'Manage', then select
"system information", then "systme summary"and I get the error: "the
connection to [computer name] could not be established"
I'm not sure why this happening. I think I have not got the reverse
look
up
zone created properly.
Any ideas?

Larry
