reverse background & foreground in Omnipage 14

When I load images to OP Pro 14, the foreground and background comes
out OK. But when I load from my scanner (an old Microtek Slimscan C3),
the background and foreground are reversed (black text on white
background shows up as white text on black). If in the scanner
preferences I enable "Invert, the image" is white on black (as it
should be) in the scanner preview, but OP now shows it black on white.

I'm not sure - I haven't run OP for a while - but I seem to recall
that this behavior began either when or sometime after I upgraded to
OP 14.

While I can hack this via the setting in Slimscan, I'm curious - Why
does OP want to invert scanner-derived images, and how can I set it to
scan without having to invert in the scanner? I can't find any
setting in OP for this, and there's nothing in the help files about
it. Re-setting up the scanner doesn't help, nor did re-installing OP
from its CD. tia - vinzi

Have you reran the scanner setup wizard for Omnipage? In Omnipage 15, it is
an item on the Windows start menu.

You should be able to match your scanner action to what Omnipage 14 wants
after running the scanner setup wizard.

You can't change previous scans that you have saved to your hard drive
without editing them.

Well, thanks! I had run Scanner Setup Wizard many times, without
messing with the so-called Hint editor (I didn't realize that "hint"
is here a technical term), with no luck. Encouraged by your note, I
ran it again, this time looking through the hints. Changing the
"Invert" settings from "yes" to "no" seems to do the trick. Live &
learn.

Do you happen to know what "InvertC" and "InvertG" refer to? And what
does the "Current OS" check box have to do with anything? - vinzi

If I take a guess, InvertC would likely be the Color images and InvertG
would be Grayscale images. With InvertB being B&W images.

I do not know what "Current OS" check box does.

When I said rerun the scanner setup wizard I meant to go through the whole
scanner setup process, where the scanner is put through its scan modes and
you get a small image in the test window. On each of those windows is a
button that you can invert the image if it is seen as a negative.

But I am happy you got it working.
