I am creating an Excel worksheet and need to take a date and find the month
of the date to display in another cell. I can make it display the number
using the month(cellnumber) but what is the best way for it to display the
word instead; instead of 12 display December?

Just format the (complete) date Custom as "dddd"

So, 12/12/2001, formatted as dddd, will display as December

Well, that was a little too simple now wasn't it. I over complicated the
matter. Thanks for your help.

If you are using an m/d/y system (eg English), then you should use mmmm for the
custom format

Thanks, Ron! Fortunately the OP seems to have found the correct way
