Can someone tell me how, or if it is possible to restore a
hard drive after it has been formatted?
It was formatted by accident and I would like to restore
to the way that it was prior to the format. (it was not
ghosted or backed up)
You can't (period), although some may claim ohterwise. Best option is to
*extract* data from the formatted drive and copy it somewhere else
inntially. Next step would be to verify the recovered data, and if all seems
well, copy it back to the reformatted partition. Integrity of the recovered
files highly depends up on how 'fragmented' the file system on the to be
recovered partition was.
