Hi

I recently updated to ie6 & not even thinking that 'My Documents' would
change, they did!
Is there any way of retrieving files from the other version?

Please help
Thanks

Windows version?

What changed, VanJo? Was My Documents relocated or are its previous
contents gone missing?

Was your anti-virus application running and any other Windows-based
application (e.g., IE, OE, Explorer) open during the download/install? Did
you get IE6-SP1 via Windows Update?

ok...here's what happened
originally I had ie5, then updated to ie6 via microsft update, probably a yr
ago, then this past spring, I was installing critical updates for ie6 when
the darn computer crashed (or I thot so)... a few hrs later I finally got it
going and ie5 was running. I didn't want to rock the boat, so I just left
at 5, as long as it would work. Then, just a few days ago, reading or
hearing that Microsoft no longer supported ie5, I searched and found I had
ie6 on my harddrive, so I re-installed that version. Now I find
"MyDocuments" has changed and I can't find any of my recent work.
I don't believe I had the 'av' program running, but I'm pretty sure I had
'windows explorer' running .

Here's a long-shot: In Explorer View>Folder Options>View>Files and
Folders>Hidden Files, is "Show all files" unchecked? Check it.

To avoid such corruption in the future, always disable your AV app and close
all other running processes (especially but not limited to Windows Explorer)
before going to Windows Update, when downloading/installing from any MS
page, and when installing, uinstalling, or re-installing anything.[/QUOTE]
