DriveF access denied

To whom it may concern,

My hard drive crashed and I had a company put in a new
hard drive(C:) and keep the old hard drive(F:) as a back
up. My operatinb system WinXP Home is on the new hard
drive, but when i try to access the old hard drive:F,I
can't access it. I know the original passwords(2 user
accounts) to the hard drive F;, but I don't know how to
access them. When I go to the properties of drive F, I do
see that there is some used disc pass. All the folders
come up in drive F, but they say they are empty or access
denied.
I'm not computer savy at all and don't know if i should
bring my computer to a specialist.
Please help,

Drive F

I had a simalar problem when i reinstalled my os in c drive
i'm running windows xp. I had to start my computer in safe
mode, log on as administrator, click on, my computer.right
click on f drive, properties ,permissions tab, advanced. I
was then able to give myself ownership of the file and
then I gave myself full control.i'm telling this from
memory so maby some one can elaborate on what I might have
left out.good luck,jack
