I saved a document yesterday, retrieved it today, made
some revisions and accidentally saved it to the same name
as yesterday.

Is there some way that I can retrieve the document as it
was yesterday?

If you have enabled "Always create backup copy" on the Save tab of Tools |
Options, then display "All Files" in File Open and look for the "Backup of
<filename>.wbk" file, which will be the previous version. If not, it's
probably a lost cause, but you might want to consider enabling this option
in case this happens again.

Moreover, if you are using the file as a template, you might want to
consider either saving it as an actual template (.dot file) and using File
New to create a new document based on it. Or, in Word 2002 and above, you
can select New from Existing Document on the New Document task pane.
