Other than the presence of Word files in the folder, this has nothing to do
with Word and everything to do with the operating system.
Assuming you have some version of Windows, have you looked in the recycle
bin? (Yes, an elementary question, but some people panic and forget it's
there.)
If the folder really has been deleted and not just moved to the recycle bin,
get an undelete program -- look at
http://www.google.com/search?q=undelete
(I haven't used any of these programs, so I can't vouch for a particular
one).
Important point: The more you use the computer that used to have the files,
the more likely it is that new files will be stored in the same place on the
disk and overwrite the deleted files, permanently preventing any recovery.
Use a different computer to look for and download the undelete program, and
run the program over a network connection or from a disk or USB drive
instead of writing it onto the disk being recovered.
