retrieval of work in Excel not saved

excel file closed in error - changes not saved that wre
made today - Is there any way I can retrieve from hard
drive? have tried hidden files but does not show

I believe it is all lost. To the best of my knowledge all changes made to
Excel are in RAM not on disk until the file is saved. There is an autosave
feature that you could use in the future if your machine crashes sometimes.
In Word if you have a file open with changes there is a separate file
beginning with a tilde that it might be possible to get some info out of but
Excel does not do that. There is nothing worse than losing a lot of
important changes but after it happens a few times the need to save
occasionally tends to get burned into the memory.

in excel, go to tools, options, save. Find the location
of autorecover. Browse to this location in Explorer.
This saved file may or may not have the changes you are
looking for.
