Retaining Unique Icons in IE Favorites

Web sites often use unique icons when placed in the Favorites folder.
However, they don't stay there.
Within days, they revert to the generic blue "e."
Is there a setting to keep that from happening?

They are deleted when history is cleaned up. The default is to keep for 20 days. Check your "Internet Options" to see what history is set to.

Thanks Chris. I guess I'll just be satisfied with the generic icons.

You do not need stick to the generic giant 'e'. When a site alters the
favorites icon it is stored in your TIF cache as a favicon that is then
deleted when you empty the cache and so returned to the generic. If you nip
in before you empty the cache you can copy the favicons you need to
c:\favicons or anywhere else that takes your fancy. Then right click the
favorites icon, select properties and direct it to c:\favicons and the icon
you wish. Clean your cache and the non-generic icon will remain. To collect
lost favicons revisit the page, delete and then re-add the bookmark and get
the TIF favicon. Hope this helps.
