Retaining "replied to" & other symbols when moving messages to Vis

Moving all my messages to a new computer with Windows Mail, I tested
a small set. The messages get moved fine, but I lose all the "messages
being watched" and flag icons and the "replied" to or "forwarded" to
symbols, just the plain envelope open is showing, without the arrow
symbols.. This also used to happen sometimes when I move messages from
my laptop to my desktop after travelling.

I need all this info to keep organized, to know who I've replied to
which messages need my attention, etc, or things will be quite confusing.
How do I move my messages without losing all this other info?

I have spent hours over several days trying to research this, and an MS MVP
advised me to post here--would be very grateful for any solution to this.

Not very used to this whole newsgroup thing, so please cc to
(e-mail address removed) or reply to it, as I'm not sure I can access this again
properly.

Many thanks in advance for your expert advise.

I think it is common to lose all the special attributes of messages
being moved from one computer to another computer. I don't know
of any workaround to avoid that.

Note: As a rule, newsgroup responder do not send responses via private email.

I also just discovered this after migrating everything over from Outlook
Express on XP to Windows Mail on Vista. Of course I still have the most vital
information, the message itself, but I very much wish the additional
"metadata" was able to come along too. Actually, I see now that my last
migration did not bring over the reply symbol then either (XP to XP). I
wonder where this data is stored if not in the message store itself?

Interestingly, if I move messages to and from IMAP accounts, the reply
status is retained, presumably because at that point it becomes part of the
message file.

If anyone has a workaround (a useful registry key perhaps?) I would be
grateful to hear about it.

Upgrading from OE to Windows Live Mail retains the symbols.
