Hi,

My Dell Optiplex runs Win 2k, with SP4. I often put it
standby mode.

Recently I've found that when the computer is in standby
and I press the "on" button, it makes a sound as if the
computer is turning on, and the little light in the button
goes from blinking to fully on, but nothing appears on the
monitor. Often I have to reboot the machine to turn it on.

I've updated the BIOS, but that didn't help. I've given
the keyboard the power to make the computer "resume", but
the keyboard doesn't do any more than the "on" button.

I'd be grateful for advice.

MORE...ok, this unsupported thing is likely, SP4 is new and your drivers
may have in the past supported W2K but not with SP4 at least not yet. To
test this, take off your peripherals and/or check Dell and peripheral
manufacturers for driver updates or patches.
