I've had XP for a couple of years and just now had this problem. I reformatted my computer recently and reinstalled everything about a month ago. Yesterday, I went to change my homepage from within Internet Explorer and it wouldn't take me to Internet Options because it said there were restrictions on my computer. I WAS able to access Internet Options from the Control Panel, but the whole area where you change your homepage was greyed out and unavailable. It was all working fine a week ago - so I dunno what happened. It's not a network puter and I'm the administrator....what do I do to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, in advance!!

Found what I needed to fix it by looking around this site under a different category and went to www.dougknox.com and found part of my fix (the error message). Then went to Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 320159 to fix my home page setting problem. All better!

Hi,

Go to Start > Run and type gpedit.msc
Look under administrative templates > Windows components > Internet
Explorer and check the policies.

Good luck
