Hello All....

I have never really used policies before, but I think I may have a
reason to use them now...

One of my clients just brought a colour laser printer.

BUT they want to beable to do the following:

Restrict the use of colour printing

Monitor the colour printing (to ensure users arent printing off too
many birthday invitations!!!!!!) ehehehhe

anyway.... I have installed 2 versions of the printer, one colour and
one B&W.

The problem is, any user can change the B&W printer to colour in the
printer settings.

Is there a way I can lock users out of changing printer settings for a
particular printer??

as I guess it would be good for them to beable to edit settings such
as landscape etc etc.... just not the colour/B&W setting.

Thanks in advance...

You can use printer ACLs on security tab to control who can print or manage.

Plus the event logs for the computer with the printer will have events every
time a user prints to the printer.

Hello Denis,

thanks for the reply..... One thing, does doing what you explained
restrict the users from changing the printer options (on their
desktop) from B&W to Colour??

Thanks,
