I would like to limit or restrict certain users from accessing a printer on
our network. I work at a child care center, and would like to keep our
student staff from using the printers on our network. Can this be done using
XP?

Only Administrators can install a printer so uninstall the printer(s) from
their PCs and do not make them Administrators.

there are several way to perform this task.

How do the client machines connect to the printer?

I will make some assumptions and you can correct me when I have something
wrong.

You control the client machines on the network. Multiple users log onto the
client machines. The printer has a network card. The client machines have
a "local" printer targeting a network address of the printer.

Just remove the everyone group from the Security on the queue and add the
users that you want to print or leave everyone and explicitly Deny print to
certain users.
