When I add a site to the Restricted sites settings and then navigate to that
site I am still able to view the source code via a context menu selection of
view source. Anybody know what is going on here? How do you stop the IE
Browser from rendering a download page?

Thanks for yo reply yokenney. I don't know... zone restrictions don't
generate a 404 error like HOST blocking. My understanding of HOST blocking
was that it redirected the request to the localhost IP address and so would
fail to find the blocked site. Zone restrictions appear to make a full
request and actually return a response which the browser just doesn't render
even though the source is visible and appears to be cached.

Rob,
If a site is listed in the Restricted Zone, it will still load in the
browser,
however due to the restrictions enforced the page is unable to run
ActiveX or javascripts, etc. That's why you can still "View Source".

A HOSTS file actually prevents the page from loading, if that site is
listed in the HOSTS file. However usually only ad, banner servers
are blocked, unless that site is blacklisted for some reason.

The site you find on my HOSTS file are there for a reason, and should
be treated as such. Usually Hijackers, Parasites, etc.
