Hi All,

Chances are this is a simple question for most, just not me. I recently took
all my files for my website (the complete folder under My Webs) and
transferred it onto my laptop. Once this was done, I decided to upload the
files to my host. I did a complete upload which included subwebs and
overrode everything.

When I tried to go onto the site it was showing Permission denied or
something like that. So I went back to my old system and uploaded everything
again, and still the same thing. I sent an e-mail to my webhost and they
fixed it. They mentioned in the e-mail that I didn't set my permissions or
something else changed. It is back up and running, but I don't want to run
into the same thing again. What did I do wrong?

I am using registered copy of FrontPage 2002.

Thanks,
Sam

If your site has the FP SE never copy or upload the site
(that corrupts the meta data and files required by the site)
- always publish from one location to another using FP

I appreciate your response. What I am however wanting to do, is sell my
other computer and transfer everything to my new one. That is where I founf
that I had this problem. Is there a way to safely take my FP files over to
my new computer and start using the new system to maintain my websites?

Thanks,
Sam

The answer is still "publish".
Either publish down from the live website to the new PC, or Publish from
the old PC to a CDRW or thumb drive, then from CDRW to new PC.
If the PCs can be networked, publish directly from old to new.

Thanks very much,

I will certainly see if I can figure this out. The first time all i did was
drag my complete folder over the network to the new computer. Obviously this
was not the thing to do.
