restrict report info

Is there a way to set reports that only allow users to run
the reports on their own user id even though they have full
access to the table info? Manager here does not want users
running production numbers on co-workers to compare work.
Looking for something to the effect of if you are logged in
under your user id then can only access your id's
information in the report.

Thanks!
Kathy

Hi Kathy,

You want to use User Level Security in Microsoft Access. Make sure you
have the following:
- the user's account in question only has permission to read data on the
QUERY that has his UserID as the criteria. DONOT give the user account
permissions on the Table.

- for the QUERY property "Run Permissions" set it to Owners

So what you end up with is a query that has a criteria of the UserID, and
it's Run Permissions set to Owners, and the user's account only has Read
Data permissions on that Query

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please
respond back to this posting.

"Microsoft Security Announcement: Have you installed the patch for
Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-026? If not Microsoft strongly advises
you to review the information at the following link regarding Microsoft
Security Bulletin MS03-026
<http://www.microsoft.com/security/security_bulletins/ms03-026.asp> and/or
to visit Windows Update at <http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/> to install
the patch. Running the SCAN program from the Windows Update site will help
to insure you are current with all security patches, not just MS03-026."

I have never set up User Level Security, can you please
tell me if the users will still be able to add to the table
doing it this way? These users are the ones who add &
update the table.

Thank you!
Kathy

You can give them the necessary permissions on the table (e.g., Update,
Delete, Insert)
