The requirement is from a client who want the users to open only One Explorer
windows while working.

The client isn't going to be interesting in hearing how stupid and
counter-productive this would be, so I'd just expain that it isn't
possible. With most independent applications it would be possible to
write some sort of interceptor that would detect that one window was
already open and refuse to open another, but IE is so thoroughly imbedded
into the operating system that such an approach is unlikely to work.

Thanx for the response. Thats exactly what I thot and I had one of my guys
put a lil script that looks for the IE process and if another instance is
started, that shud be killed immediately. However so far we haven't been
successful ;)

Lets see.

Thanks anyways

Tools | Internet Options | Advanced | Reuse windows for launching shortcuts
This should take care of most of what he wants, but some links are hard
coded to open in a new window.

It won't stop links that are coded to open new windows, and it won't stop
the user from intentionally opening additional windows.
