Restoring USer Objects IN Active Directory

Hi,
I was having a windows 2000 server with AD. Recently there was a hardware
failure and had to replace the server with different set of hardwares.

I installed the new server and when tried to restore the active directory in
offline mode from the old system state backup, the server hangs and never
boots.

I have quite a lot of users in my old System state Database which i want to
copy/ replicate to the new server. How do I accompolish this without
restoring all the entries of AD. While restoring all the entries of the
system state never worked since my hardware are different. I want to restore
the users only.
Pleaser help me.......
