i recently purchased vista home premium and wasn't satisfied with it and was
wondering if theirs a way to go back to my original OS (windows media center)
if it helps i upgraded to vista instead of clean install.

Vista is supposed to have held on to windows media center in the form of
the Windows.old directory during the upgrade. Since the beta testers didn't
get the upgrade, but the full version instead, they couldn't try restoring XP.

I think this KB has the information you need:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927523/en-us

You could try Method 1 to see if media center is available for repair.

How to restore a computer to a previous Windows installation after you
install Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927522/en-us

If that doesn't work for you, then you'll have to do a clean install of XP
MCE.
