Restoring to a new hard drive

I recently backed up my whole hard drive (which has bad
sectors) in preparation for Dell to replace it with a new
hard drive this week. During the restore (using Stomp's
Backup My PC, version 5.0 (w/out Disaster Recovery for
SP1), I need to know if I choose to restore hardware
settings as well as the NTFS permissions. If I have a
replacement hard drive, does that qualify as a "hardware
change" if it's the same size? And if I don't restore
the hardware settings, what does that mean exactly? What
would I have to do after the restore. It's already such
a long process because I have to first install WinXP,
then SP1, then the Backup My PC software, then do the
restore (sigh, I know, but this is my software and I'm
stuck with it..if it works it's worth it). PLEASE
HELP!!! To restore hardware settings or not to
restore????? Please keep in mind that this hard drive
will be the same size as its predecessor. Just don't
know if the same make....

Don't do a backup and restore option for this. There will
be important configuration settings that won't get copied
over to the new hard drive. If you must do a back up and
restore, get a copy of Norton's Ghost and Ghost the drive
from one to the other.
If you're only replacing the hard drive, it will be a
hardware change, but it shouldn't trigger the registration
feature.
