I would like to know if anybody out there has had any success with
restoring the system state (in order to restore active directory) to
different hardware (chipset/disk controller)??
After installing W2K (Advanced Server) on a different machine and
performing a system state restore, upon reboot, I get an STOP:
0x0000007B "Inaccessible_Boot_Device" error. I am almost certain that
this is a drive controller issue.
Here's what I've done so far...
Tried changing drive controller to "standard ide disk" and re-backing
up system state.
Tried moving the hal.dll file from original machine to new machine
after restore.
As this is a lab setting, I am not interested in performing
replication to another server or using the same hardware setup. I am
solely interested in knowing if the above situation is possible to do.
If it is not, can someone suggest a way to backup (or even record for
printout) user and group membership settings.
If this is not the appropriate newsgroup for this, please direct me to
a more appropriate one.
Thanks
