Accidentally deleted files in Registry. Unable to open
Outlook Express, all programs, games, etc. Get an error
message:

"access to the specified device, path or file is denied."

No backup of the Registry, Emergency Repair Disk (ERD)
didn't work, I've booted into safe mode and tried "Last
Known Good Configuration" with no success. Please Can
someone help me? I've been learning as I go and miss my
computer. Thank you in advance for your time and
consideration.

For the next go-around. If you run Programs|Accessories|System Tools|Backup,
then choose ERD, then if you check the box for "Also backup....", then the
reg will also be backed up to
%windir%\repair\RegBack
leaving the
%windir%\repair\
directory files intact as original installation.

You will need to repair the operating system installation. Insert your OS
CD, restart your computer, and select the Repair option when the OS
installation CD launches. Next time, be diligent about backing up your
registry via the Backup tool.
