You can create a .reg file of the current registry with the Export function
under regedit, assuming that your old version of Win2000 is still available.
However, importing this old version of the registry into your new
installation would almost certainly cripple the new installation.
If you have to rebuild a machine, and if there is a possibility that you may
need to retrieve some information from the old configuration, then I
recommend that you create an image file of the old installation BEFORE
starting the new installation. Products such as DriveImage or Ghost come to
the mind.

I have a windows 2000 machine that I recently had to rebuild. I need to
get my registry keys out of my old windows install on my backup drive, and
Re-Import them into the registry. Is there a way to browse a second windows
install's registry? If not, is there any way that I can dump the old
registry to a .reg file?
