had to restore system - files were erased- need them back-
especially microsoft works!!!! have supplemental restore
disc's - which do we use and how does it work???

I have just restored my system but it does not seemed to have worked properly. Did yours run smoothly or did you have any probs?

if you restored your system, then you need to download and reinstall any programs you were using that weren't originally installed on your computer.

Did you do a complete reformat or a non-destructive one where you don't lose any of your files? You would need to provide a little more information to get a complete and thorough answer.

OEM vary on how they structure the restore CDs. Sony provides one set of
CDs to restore the system and another set to restore preinstalled
applications.

Looks at the label on the supplemental restore disks for any helpful
information. Also, if these disks are intended to restore the preinstalled
applications, inserting the first disk should bring up a menu of
applications you can restore. Also, Works frequently has separate
installation CDs. Did you received such?

BTW: if you insert a CD intended to restore the system, you should get a
warning and an option to exit before any restoration occurs. Application
restore CDs are installed from Windows, System Restore CDs are installed
from DOS.
