Hi
Has anyone ever had an log "error code 1004" message when trying to restore
Imoega ZIP backup using W2K?
My problem:
Up to a week ago I used a ZIP 250 USB powered and Iomega's "The Works" under
WIN2000, for
daily backups. My HDD crashed so I installed a new one, also running
WIN2000. The previous
HDD had two partitions [C:] and [D:] (partition "D" with "Administrator"
access right only)
and the data was backed up from several directories in both partitions into
an image backup
file <image.113>.
I can restore the all "C" directories and data files from the image backup
file, but only
"D" directories and no data file inside them. Any alternative location I
create/select in
attempting to restore "D" data files also becomes unaccessible (does this
help as a clue?).
Through "The Works" I can view the files' icons next to their tick boxes, I
can select them,
I can start restoring, but the "D" files are not restored.
Error message in the log file:
D:\DATA\FINANCE\2002-2003_MGAB.xls: Unable to open file
"D:\DATA\FINANCE\2002-2003_MGAB.xls," file will be skipped (code 1004).
Iomega says I should address the problem to the system manufacturer
(Microsoft). Is there
any utility/procedure I can use to recover the data?
