Shawn

I recently had some site entirely change what comes up
when you click the "search" button in IE 6. I managed to
delete it out of the registry, but I dont know how or if
I can restore the original search wizard that used to
come up, any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Shawn

Shawn,

Open Internet Explorer > Tools > Options > Programs > "Reset Web Settings"

Additionally, run Ad-Aware scan (www.lavasoftusa.com). Update it and run a
full system scan, eliminate the parasites causing this problem.

If this does not help, try deleting the following registry keys:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Search Bar
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Search Page
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Start Page
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Default_Page_URL
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Default_Search_URL
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search\SearchAssistant
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search\CustomizeSearch
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Search Bar

Shawn,

To enable the Search Companion feature:
In Internet Explorer, click the Search button on the toolbar.
On the Search bar, click Customize.
Click Use Search Companion in the Customize Search Settings dialog box,
and then click OK.
Restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect.
