Restoring Ghost Backup

Sparked by some recent references here I decided to try Norton's
Ghost.

I succesfully made an image backup of my Win2K OS installation (on my
first hd) to a small partition that I created on my second hd.

Looks good, but if the OS gets trashed, how would I restore it? I
mean, I know how to run Ghost to do the restore (I think) but would I
simply overwrite the existing installation or would I delete/recreate
that partition and the restore the image to it?

In the latter case, would the mbr be correct or would I have to fix it
somehow?

You simply select the file to restore, and the partitionor
disk to restore to. It will overwrite the existing
content. If the partition is a boot partition, it will
boot fine. I have used ghost many times and it has always
done its job well. In order to save space, you may like
to select high compression when doing the imaging. I find
this a very good restore tool to use.

Thanks Andy ... sounds simple enough. Yes, I did select high
compression (I had plenty of time anyway) and I must say making the
backup was easy. It's comments like your around here that moved me to
try it. Seems an easy way to keep a backup.
