Restoring files

Ok, I know this may not be the place to ask this question, but here it goes
anyway.

I bought a new computer and used Laplink's PC Mover to move all the files
and apps over to the new computer. Then the other day, I had to do a
Recovery because I was having problems with XP in that I could not access the
Add/Remove Programs. Anyway, when I did the recovery, I failed to back up my
Outlook Contacts file and all my Stationery. I contacted Laplink and asked
them if would be possible to extract just those files from the CD that were
created and they said NO. So, I went back and asked them if it would work if
I re-ran those discs, saved the files I need to save and then just do a
system restore to a previous restore point and they said that "it should
work." What does anyone here think of that. Would it work or would I just
mess things up more?

Thanks for any input anyone may be able to offer.

If you still have the intact old PC simply copy the pst(s)
I've never had use for a third party 'mover'

What recovery process did you use?

When you say "re-run those discs", are these the LapLink disk, and are they
run from within Windows, or from a boot disk?
Thanks for any input anyone may be able to offer.
