I've permanently deleted the files that cause it to behave the way you
want
it to, so I can't exactly test this, but doesn't simply refreshing the
folder work? Or maybe closing and re-opening Explorer?
If not, I'm at a loss, as I absolutely detest that behaviour in XP
(though I
fully understand and agree with why it's there), so it's usually one of
the
first things to go on any XP machines I'm using regularly.

Thank you for taking time to reply to my question.
However, I'm not trying to display the system files and folders. Would
not
ticking this option show the folders and files for C:\, Program Files,
and
Windows?
That's not what I want to happen. I want to be able to do is the
opposite,
not show system folders and files. I want to restore the image in the
left
pane of windows explorer that warns you that the folder contains system
files. How do I do that?

I''''m still searching for the complete Windows XP user manual.

Replied to [MindRiot]s message :
After a reinstall of XP, the view in the left pane of Windows
Explorer
for
C:\, Program Files, and Windows displays a warning that the folder
contains
system files and there is a link to show the folders and files.
After clicking the link to show the files, how do I restore the
message
so I
can once again hide the folders and files?
Control Panel > Folder Options
View tab
Tick "Display the contents of system folders"
Click OK
