I backed up contacts and email before a major motherboard failure. The file is
*.pst. How do I restore it to Outlook? I am a novice user. Thanks for any/all
help.

I'm also having trouble restoring folders I created in my personal folders.
I've tried copying these folders from a CD to My Documents, then importing.
Nothing happens. I managed to restore my contacts, but these other folders
aren't working. What am I doing wrong.

Anywhere you look here you will see what you are doing wrong. You never
import Outlook data.
You copy your PST file to a location on your hard drive, then open it in
Outlook.
Instructions:
File > Open > Outlook Data File...

Thanks, Russ. That works. But everytime I open a folder, a new "personal
folder" is created. I'm simply dragging my folders to he personal folder at
the top to keep them organized. How can I delete these
additional/unnecessary personal folders?

Right. Once you open the file you then have two choices:
1. Copy what you want from it into your current default file, then close it.
2. Reset the file to be your default and then close the first file (requires
a restart).
