Hi,
Rundll32.exe is an application that runs 32-bit dll files. The fact there is
an error indicates that the file it is trying to run is probably damaged or
corrupt. You may not be able to run System Restore, however try this first:
start/run "sfc /scannow" and have your WinXP CD handy as you will be
prompted for it. If your system was preinstalled and you do not have a CD,
you may need to know the location of the I386 folder on the hard drive.
If System Restore still will not run after using this procedure, you may
have to manually disable and restart the service. The bad side is that this
will result in the loss of all existing restore points. The good side is
that it may fix the problem. To do this, start/run "services.msc", sroll
down to the SR service and double-click it. "Stop" the service and set the
startup type to disabled. Click apply/ok and reboot. Reverse the steps to
reenable it.
