My wife's computer, which runs WindowsXP SP2, connects to the internet via a
Linksys Wireless G adapter. The router is on my computer.

Yesterday it worked fine; today she cannot get a connection. Following
phone conversations with a Linksys tech, I looked for Linksys in All
Programs. It's not there. So I was told that somehow the computer had
uninstalled it and that we needed to reinstall it with the disc, which I
can't find. Hence the question. Will running the Windows Restore function
bring back Linksys?

Routers don't (normally) need software to be installed
so it's not likely there was anything that got uninstalled.
Try resetting the router

I read his post that way the first time too, but what I think he's
saying is that his wife's laptop has a wireless adapter and that the
adapter drivers/software have somehow disappeared.

To the OP - if this is the case, then have your wife look in Device
Manager for the Linksys adapter with the adapter inserted. With pc card
adapters, you need to have the adapter inserted before you turn on the
computer. If your wife just pulled the adapter out before she shut down
the machine or something along that line, first try just starting the
computer with the adapter in the laptop.

If the device shows up in Device Manager, you might go ahead with the
System Restore since this was a sudden change.

That makes sense to me...
otherwise I'm sure the drivers are available at the manufacturer's website.

Hi Jerry,

System Restore was not designed to uninstall or reinstall application.
System Restore monitors a core set of system and application files. Any
unmonitored files that were deleted will not be restored. So the chances
of the application functioning correctly is very very slim.
