I wanted to restore my files from DriveImage on an external hard drive.
To do this, I need to boot from a CD. I booted from the CD, but there
was no option to run the DriveImage program. There were three options
given, and eventually the system booted from the hard disk. This made it
impossible to restore everything. I had to restore files and programs
separately, working for several days. How do we do this?

Thanks.

what cd did you boot from? What where the 3 options?

The CD that XP made as a bootable CD.

Options: Restore, log in as windows. I cannot recall.

well, you would not get an option to restore from DriveImage from the
Windows cd. If you copied your hdd to cd using a program called
driveImage, then that's the cd you use, not the Windows CD.
Using the Windows cd you'll have the option to repair or format and clean
install.

Well, I succeeded. I found my DriveImage disk. What is terrible is that this
company was bought out by Symantec. Symantec has a similar product named
Ghost, which can read a DriveImage disk, but that's it. Ghost uses Net, which
DriveImage does not. It is a shame when a good product gets bought out making
it harder to get the original CD's. I'd like to have another CD, or to copy my
CD, just in case I have to restore again and the original CD is not good. I'd
like to copy the CD to my external hard drive for this purpose. I wish they
would make life easier when it is necessary to restore a hard disk.
