restore windows xp

i cannot restore my windows xp it comes up cannot restore
try anothre date and time and i doesn't matter what date
i go to i get the same message no changes have been made

I installed Office XP SP 3 and it caused major problems...I wanted to go back and restore the system before this issue...and it will not let me restore at any date. Please advise.
