Restore using ntbackup.exe

Help!
I backed up from WinXp using ntbackup.exe and now cannot
restore to WinXp using ntbackup.exe. I get the error
message, "The backup file contains unrecognized data and
cannot be used." I had first backed up to the hard drive
and then copied the ".bkf" file to a RW CD drive.
Is there a way to access the files on the CD?

Try copying the file back to the hard drive and restore from there instead
of directly from the CD.

That didn't work. I still got that same error message.
But thanks for the suggestion. Any other ideas?

Right click the file on your hard drive, select properties, if read only is
selected, remove that option and try again. If that fails, my guess is
there must have been corruption in the backup or it became corrupted when
the file was written to CD.

If that is the case, if you backed up directly to CD, in the future try
backing up to your hard drive and then copy the file to CD. Because the
backup operation was in process at the same time as the burn, it's possible
that it corrupted the file during the burn.
