Restore Security to Split Database

I have successfully split my database.

The original was 2003. I converted it back to 97 (since we have users who
have 97 front-ends as well as 2003 front ends). I have managed to create a
2003 front end and hook it up to the 97 back end.

My problem is this. The user level protections are working just fine in
2003. But they are not there for 97. It looks like people are joining the
group and signing in, as they did for 2003, and I have reset all the
permissions to be the way I want them. However, in fact, people who are not
supposed to be able to enter data can do whatever they want. What do I have
to do to be able to restore user-level security? Any ideas?

Thanks.

Permissions are best applied to the BE. If you apply them to the FE,
somebody can easily bypass them. IIRC, when you create a 97 version
using 2003, all permissions are stripped. Furthermore, IIRC, you
cannot modify the structure of a 97 database using 2003. So it seems
your only option is to open the BE using Access 97, and apply the
permissions there.
