i recently upgraded from win98 to w2k. something
happened (i'm not sure what) and now there are some apps
that won't open. i've tried reinstalling them, but to no
avail. On win98, i could restore the registry through
the DOS command "restore" but i can't find that on w2k.
i'm not a techie, so i can only do what i've been given
instructions on. i also don't have a good ERD or
registry back up. i didn't know to make one until it was
too late (i'm used to using the seagate travan backup but
i haven't found a driver for it yet.) anyway, can anyone
give me advice or instructions on how to restore a
registry from a prior day? any help would be greatly
appreciated!!!
thanks,
russell

For the next go-around. If you run Programs|Accessories|System Tools|Backup,
then choose ERD, then if you check the box for "Also backup....", then the
reg will also be backed up to
%windir%\repair\RegBack
leaving the
%windir%\repair\
directory files intact as original installation.
