Last night, while messing around with msconfig I un-checked something I
shouldn't have. Now on boot windows-xp gives the "fatal error" BSOD. The two
tabs I was working with included the windows services and startup. (There
was a blank line under the startup-- anybody ever seen taht before?)
So how do I restore previous versions that were affected under msconfig? (I
can put the HDD into a secondary computer to move files around... which
backups should I look for and where?)

Thanks for your help.

Micheal.

Thanks Peter. Tried that, still got the same BSOD. After checking
microsoft.com knowledge base, Kelly's Korner, and XP Aggravations, I'm
leaning to a problem with the ntsokernel. Going to try re-instating the
original and see what that gets me. Back in a while.

Thanks again!

Yup! It was a bootscreen foul-up.
