hey there, could really do with finding out how to access a restore point
from about a month previous to when computer (vista home premium) started
going wrong but the furthest restore point listed is roughly a week ago which
is no good! any ideas???

Premium doesn't actually have restore points. I mean it "acts" as if it's
creating them, but the are "pseudo" points and the only take up memory.
Only the Ultimate and Business versions have the sys restore that actually
works. You'd do better using the Back-up & Restore option in Premium along
with an external hard drive.

You're confusing System Restore with the PC Backup function. System Restore
is the same in all versions of Vista. PC Backup in Business and Ultimate
offers the full backup as opposed to the Home versions that only backup
files.

As to the original question, once a restore point is gone there is no
retrieving it. Whatever the problem is, a different solution will be needed.

Vista only keeps x number of restore points depending on the amount of disk
space allocated. Once it's gone you cannot get it back. You need to find a
different solution to whatever problem you are having.

Sorry, you're out of luck. What's listed is all that exists. You can't
access what no longer exists.
