Restore points not working

The first 2 restore points made by my system refuse to
work. I believe there is no solution.

I'm considering reinstalling XP Pro in order to stabilize
my system, and myself. Is my thinking OK? Any problems
lurking with a reinstallation of XP Pro?

If the only problem is SR, a reinstallation is overkill.
It can generally be cured by turning it off, rebooting
and turning it back on.
This causes all existing SR points to be deleted and it starts fresh.
If you want to diagnose the current restore failure, you can use
srdiag. See this post:

Thanks..

However, I've also had the blue screen of death and many
software glitches (Works, t.o, Outlook Express). Now
none of the restore points work and I can only shut my
system down with the button on the tower.
