Restore Points Non functional.

Have several possible restore points in system restore,
but when I try to restore my system using one of these
restore points, I am told that my computer cannot be
restored to any of them. Anyone know what that's about?

Sounds like your restore points have gotten corrupted. I have no way of
telling you why.

Turn off System Restore.

Reboot.

Turn on System Restore.
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310405

Make a Manual Restoration Point.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/xpsysrst.mspx

(That, of course, will erase the previous restore point you have.)

As far as I know it will only restore to a point where there was a
significant alteration to the operating system.It does not restore to
additions or changes to other programmes

Occasionally and for various reason, the storage for System Restore becomes
invalid and/or corrupt. Past restore points are not usable and should be
dumped. Reset System Restore: Turn it off in System Properties. Restart the
computer (old restore points should now be gone) and then enable it again.
