It says that the only restore point that I have is
December 7, 2003 and that is today. It will not click
back to prior months where I have selected restore points
that I hoped to go to if I had a problem. It tells me
that there are no other restore points available.

What is going on. I have never run into this before?

Hi Grayson,

Installing certain updates, notably SP1, removes old restore points. So does
running disk cleanup.

In any case, once the points are gone, they are gone permanently. You will
need to begin creating new ones. Keep in mind also that as WinXP creates new
points, old ones are systematically removed (only so much space is available
for SR points).

Disk Cleanup doesn't remove old restore points on System Restore. It sure
does not remove them on my XP installation , and Disk Cleanup has no option
to do so. Could you explain where you got that idea? Thanks Jym

Disk cleanup offers to remove all but the latest restore point in the
"More Options" tab

Hi Jym

Start/run cleanmgr.exe
Go to the second tab (More Options)
Under System Restore, click the clean up button.

Hi John,

Yes, that's possible, but 12% is still the max. If the installation is large
and encompasses a large portion of the drive, then there may only be room
for one.
