After i installed beta IE7, my outlook (office 2003) does not allow me to
access my hotmail account and it repeteadly keeps asking for internt dial up
connection. I tried to restore the system to the previous point but it
simply is not highlighted. I have a norton antivirus active.

Any guidance to restore the system to previous point is appreciated.

Hi Mahendra,

There's a good change that all the restore points were deleted during
the IE7 install process. The only alternative is to look for IE7 removal
in Control Panel - Add/remove programs.

Unfortunately there is no way to fix broken or missing restore points.
Hindsight has 20/20 vision. It is always advisable to create a full system
backup before one installs beta software :-(

I was under the impression that one only needed to backup Documents and
setting in XP. I just reinstalled XP and Documents and Setting as well
as the other software I had previously installed and the system runs
fine. Did I miss something here?

to create a restore point:access the system restore
wizard through the help & support center. click on
create a restore point & click next.
in the restore point description box, type a name to
identify this restore point. system restore automatically
adds to this name the date and time that this restore
point is created. to finish, click create.

It is advisable to do a full system backup before installing beta software
as one doesn't know if the beta is buggy and if it will cause system
problems that are not reversible.

The OP is not asking how to create System Restore points. He is asking how
to revert back to a previous date if a Restore Point has not been created.
