restore point beginning or end ?

When a restore point is created (such as downloading a
new driver, software etc)and you want to go back to
before the task was done; Do you go back to that restore
point or the one before that? In essence is the restore
point created at the beginning of the task being
performed or at the end?

The last restore point would be before the last install
