Restore Inbox?

If a user needs a message from a week ago that they deleted and the only way
to get it back is by restoring their mailbox. Will restoring that particular
day have any influence over messages that are CURRENTLY in their inbox? The
message is from a few weeks ago so if I do a restore on that date will in
affect the messages that are currently in their inbox?

Is the mailbox on an Exchange server? Has Deleted Item retention been abled
on the Exchange server so that the Tools item "Recover Deleted Items" is
available?
