I took a backup of My Documents using the Backup & Restore Wizard in XP.
This created a .bkf file that I saved on my external HDD.

I did a factory restore of my system.

I am unable to restore the .bkf file using the Backup & Restore Wizard.
This is the report that is generated (note: I AM able to restore the files
using the same .bkf file on my work PC)

I have changed the ownership issues related to the .bkf file, as suggested in
another thread.

However, I still unable to do a restore of the files.

Although, I am able to restore individual files. In other words, I can not
restore all the files and the folder structure...but if I choose an
individual file or folder in the Restore Utility it is able to restore.

Kristen,

Windows service packs 2 and 3 did updates to the windows back up utility.
Run windows update and install all updates till there are none left to
install and then try your back up restore again and it should work.

Andy

Andy,

Thanks for the tip. When I did the factory restore the first thing I did
was run all the updates for Windows.

I will check this again and ensure that the operating system is up to date.

Kernel for BKF repair software quickly restores all the data from damaged BKF files. You don’t need to look around for older backups or deal with data loss issues. It can easily restore data from all backups created using ntbackup.exe utility and backup files created using Backup Exec by VERITAS under Windows, Novell and Macintosh. You can download the software from http://www.bkfrecoverytool.net/
